LORD OF THE DANCE
In the middle of finishing the runway hats for London we received a call for a replacement stage piece.
With a 72 hour turn around request the production of Lord Of The Dance required this headpiece for their European tour.
The fabric had to go from Boston to Las Vegas to Newport back to Las Vegas and then on a plane to Budapest and not miss a shipping cut off time or the flight to Budapest.
Logistics, logistics and more logistics to make it happen. It couldn't have happened without Sarah Havens with her dog by her side to help pull it off.
We did it and I'm sure the audience is enjoying every minute of the show.
Millinery Classes Newport Rhode Island
Sharing pictures of construction techniques I was taught during my classes with Sarah Havens.
I knew exactly the design I wanted to capture in a structured element.
Using vintage hat blocks for the crown and a different one for the brim I was able to
execute my vision.
Although labor intensive I am proud to say that with two yards of sinamay my brown/beige polka dot Chapeau really is called Pretty Woman.
The other photograph is a technique simply called free form.
My vision for this was to achieve something that was vintage to a farm or cottage.
The style you might have seen on a grandmother or aunt working in the garden.
The hat you see hanging by the door that can be grabbed on your way out to check on your flower garden.
I used a fedora hat block for the crown and then free formed the brim. It is a hat I would purchase to use as a decorative accent by any door.
Now looking forward to constructing another Pretty Woman in black/beige polka dots.
Happy to say "Made In The USA"
PRE SHOW PREPERATIONS
Pulling it together for a professional model is always one of my favorite preperations before the show.
When your model is a pro they make it a breeze and they do so with a smile on their face.
Knowing a pro will make your product rule the runway while buyers fill out order forms you thank your model for every step they take.
I have had the pleasure over the past 29 years of working with countless models across the United States and each one has been a contributing factor to my success.
A round of applause for each of you and many, many thanks.
See you at the next show!!!!!!
